Please
note: The following article provides technical advice regarding
how to investigate any phone number. We do not aim or intend to
provide relationship or marriage advice. Please consult a trained,
licensed professional or counselor before conducting any sort
of investigation on your spouse or significant other.
If
you've been noticing some odd, unfamiliar phone numbers showing
up on your spouse's (or significant other's) call display - and
if you have reason for concern - then follow these steps to find
out the source of the mystery phone number - including their name,
address & perhaps more information...
Step
1: Start In Your Own Backyard
Often,
"mystery numbers" are nothing more than a colleague,
family member or friend - especially if they have a new cell phone
number or work phone that you simply aren't aware of yet. So it's
best to disqualify this possibility as soon as possible.
Start
by searching their "address book" - both on their phone,
and if they have one, a day-planner or otherwise organizer of
some sort.
Then,
search their computer - and/or the family computer. I recommend
using Google Desktop
to do so, as it's fast, comprehensive and free. Search their email(s)
as well, and any related contact or social programs.
Check
their pockets for pieces of paper - check their wallet, etc.
Step
2: Evaluate Your Partner's Behaviour
Are
they away from home later than normal?
Are they at
work much more frequently - including alleged business trips on
the weekends and so on?
Has your communication
and overall relationship with your partner suddenly become more
"distant" or "forced"?
If so - there
may be cause for concern. These phone calls might potentially
be indicating an existing or budding love affair.
(To know if
you're reading the signs correctly, you might consider reading
"How
to Catch a Cheating Spouse", which comes highly recommended
from a variety of websites on the topic.)
Step
3: Know For Certain - Conduct a Reverse Phone Lookup
First,
run a reverse search on the number with WhitePages.com and Switchboard.com
(if Canadian, use WhitePages.ca). If it's a listed residential
number, it will be listed in that database most likely.
Second,
follow the instructions in these articles for advice on conducting
free reverse cell phone searches for free on the web:

Third, if
that doesn't work, then you'll need to see if the number is included
in our provider's premium database. Run your initial search for
